Families
It is our pleasure to welcome you to Langford Elementary (LES) – Home of the Labradors! We are so excited that you are part of the Langford family. The start of a new school year is filled with many new opportunities and experiences for all students. Our dynamic teachers and staff work hard to create a positive teaching and learning environment for all students. Through engaging and authentic learning experiences all students develop world-class skills and characteristics that provide a foundation and love for learning. We share a commitment that each child who is entrusted to us will receive the best of us every day.
Langford is a place where learning comes alive. Students are challenged and motivated to excel. Our dedicated faculty and staff work very hard to meet the individual needs of all students and maintain personal connections with their families. We believe – children are the first priority and every decision, action and instruction is based on the needs of the whole child. We believe – in a learning community of respect, promoting positive character and good citizenship. Our positive thinking creates positive actions which equals positive results. We believe – the relationship between home school and community promotes student success. We value and rely upon these partnerships as they are vital to the success of all of our students.
In our effort to educate the whole child socially, emotionally, and academically is ongoing and intentional. We use formative and summative assessments to gather data on the academic growth of our students and use that data to develop appropriate classroom and individualized instruction. Regular review and revision of the curriculum helps us to ensure that we are delivering the best possible learning experience for our students. We use Character Education traits as key concepts during learning opportunities for social-emotional growth. Character Education is integrated school-wide into the curriculum through our Six Traits of Good Character and our P.A.W.S for Great effort preventive behavior model. Our teachers take time to “know” their students, identifying strengths, challenges and passions while striving for a positive school experience and love of learning.
We invite you to become an active partner in our school community through volunteering, joining our PTO and SIC, or attending and supporting school events. Research clearly supports that when parents/guardians participate and are involved in their child’s education, there is a greater likelihood of academic success for the child. As the old African Proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child,” and I am excited to see your children through your eyes. I cannot wait to share with you the great things they do throughout their days at LES.
We truly believe that communication is the key to a successful educational experience. Together, we will continue to improve the quality of our school community and provide the best for the children at Langford. Education is a partnership between the school, students, parents/guardians, and community. All children are more successful when we work as a team to achieve educational goals.
As an Administrative team, it is our expectation that each child will have a successful school experience. We will celebrate their successes, small and large. We will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community. We look forward to another wonderful school year where we create a strong love for learning, a fun and safe environment for all students to thrive, and a caring community that puts all student’s first.
Have a great year!
Sincerely,
Kaseena M. Jackson, Principal
